Does anyone have Internet restrictions at work? In my job Internet is a necessity and broad access to news sites is needed but every work place has their own rules. My partnerâ??s internet access at work was severely limited after one colleague abused the right â?? now he canâ??t look at his emails, social networking sites, music storesâ?¦ well hardly anything! Only ebay is available to look at in his lunch time! It was a shame that one person abusing the system has led to his whole office being denied the right to look at anything.
Are you guilty of looking at personal things during work? A review (http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2052867_county_council_workers_surf_web_for_jobs_a nd_news) of surrey council workers showed that most time on the Internet was used browsing Surrey jobs (http://www.careers-jobs.eu/surrey-jobs) and news. Other popular sites were Surrey fire and rescue and holiday websites such as Expedia! I have heard of people being fired over facebook comments about their work (ridiculous) but looking for other jobs during work time canâ??t be too promising for the council haha!
Do you think Internet restrictions should be in place at work? There is nothing more annoying then a colleague who spends ages doing personal things while the rest of the team slave away â?? in my opinion anyway. I wonder if it is related to staff productivity *strokes ones chin*. Or do you think that personal breaks would just be diverted into other things like texting?
