View Full Version : A&E or car park for hospital – surrey job future?
Hi guys
Looks like Surrey will be getting a new accident and emergency unit and then drop the car park. But both is an issue and a new unit will increase the parking dilemma and whilst building there will be even a bigger mess.
Hopefully they will employ new doctors and staff at the A&E and in time sort out the parking?

Hey Lilly,
Do you know which hospital is getting the new A&E centre?
I am guessing the facilities we have aren't enough eh? Just as long as it isn't due to too many drug and drink related issues :(
The car parking does sound a bit problematic. Perhaps they could build another story upon their existin car park? It wouldn't be pretty but it would be a solution perhaps?
A new A&E? Where?
Do you mean they will take the car park away to build this???? Confused sorry hehe!
Oh sorry everyone, I can’t believe I skipped the most important part :ohee-hee, it’s the Frimley Park Hospital (http://www.gethampshire.co.uk/news/s/2055042_multimillion_pound_new_ae_for_frimley_park _hospital_). Remember there was this thing about the parking a week or two back?
They are planning to build the A&E in the front of the hospital which is actually suppose to be turned into new parking for visitors.
But the hospital has £30 million to spend on the A&E and also a cardiac lab etc and the parking is £6 million and they won’t be able to do all of it.
I agree that upgrading a hospital is better than parking…I just wonder if there is a way of creating new parking areas without spending so much money on it. Maybe an informal parking lot for the next three years on an open piece somewhere with shuttles taking people to the front of the hospital…?
I don’t think people will mind to park far away as long as they don’t have to struggle to find parking and worry about the car’s safety and especially if they know it is only temporary.
Anyway, I really hope Surrey Borough Council approves this soon because the sooner it starts the sooner it can be finished and can people benefit from it as well as the new Surrey jobs (http://www.careers-jobs.eu/surrey-jobs) for doctors, nurses and construction workers.
Wow why don't they make a car park underneath the hospital structure they will build???? Saves on looking for space????
I think your idea is good too and they could make money in the form of park and ride fees?
Anything new in hospitals is definately a good thing - I would definately think they would approve the plans asap? What would hold them up?????? The jobs created would be very beneficial to the area in my opinion don't you think? Esp as many construction projects in the area have come to a stand still of late!
