View Full Version : What did you get for lunch at school?
Hi guys
I saw something today that kills me…Caterham School in Surrey will be getting £1million worth of lunches per year with a new catering contract.
They can look forward to 2,000 chef-tested recipes like Shepherds Pie as well as global cuisines to cater for the overseas student.
My school didn’t provide lunches and I had peanut butter sandwiches up until I was to shy to eat them lol and could make my own lunches.
What did you get for lunch normally?

My secondary school had a canteen but the food they sold was really expensive! Well.. I think it was expensive seeing as I was never full at the end of the day haha! They had quite a good range - burgers, pasta, chips, wraps etc. but no 'proper' meals like sheppards pie.
Do you think this is the start of getting children to eat healthy food? I know some schools serve food that is quick and easy to make, rather then something that is nutritous :o
Do you think the price is going to be directed straight to the parents? Or are they having funding do you know?
Yes, I think it is all part of the school fee...it's double than normal schools. Hectic! But health is their primary function with these meals and I guess fatty foods aren't the best way to get children focussing on school work after lunch... I always feel tired if I've eaten something to cheesy and lately I always crave sweets afterwards so I should rather stick to eating healthy. So it's good the kids are learning this at an earlier stage...
I used to love school dinners and we used to get set meals until I went to High School where we got the choice of Pizza and Burgers as well hehe! You can guess what I ate! One of my favourites was chips cheese and beans... Mmmmmmmm! Back then healthy eating wasn't such an issue I guess!?
I always crave sweets after eating - its just habit I guess! fruits can be sweet as well though and fill the gap just as well - so they say lol!
I wonder how much extra this wil cost the parents then? LOL!
