Apparently Network Rail wants to build a train line that runs through Redhill on the exact spot where Tesco plans to build a multi million pound store.
Which would you think will be best for the community, a Tesco’s or a train line?
I can’t think that the people living in Redhill would like it much if their sanity will be disrupted by freight trains running through the town daily.
A tesco’s will add much more to the community, won’t you say?

This will probably have pros and cons in both ways if I am honest!

Tesco will create more jobs in the area though thats for sure! So I guess it wins in that sense! I mean with jobs so few and far between it would be good to have another source that will create a good few jobs would it not?

What are they building on this time? More greeen belt land?

As for the train line ande noise - I guess it just depends where it is and what it is closer to and all that you know?

Luckily no green belt. Through the centre of the town!!!I think the projects are needed in both aspects. The town needs more employment opportunities and Network Rail (http://www.thisissurreytoday.co.uk/news/Train-line-derail-Tesco-s-town-centre-bid-Redhill/article-1426854-detail/article.html) needs a cut through to connect with Tonbridge and Reading.
However the Tesco project is the only project that will see Redhill actually benefit from the scenario. The retailer's plans also involved 25 apartments on top of the store.
It will also be a 24-hour store which will increase the amount of jobs (http://www.careers-jobs.eu) I guess. But funnily enough plenty of objections were also submitted and one person even called the Tesco a "blight to the future of Redhill town centre"
Maybe neither of the two will happen...who knows.
If a shop is concidered an eye sore, just think how a train line will be perceived...

I suppose I can see why anything being built there would meet with resistance? I mean all you see these days is building here there and everywhere!

Tesco are like taking over the world aren't they? Hehe!

I can see the good side to it all though - jobs will definately boost the local economy and with apartments as well thats a good source of housing in the local area? It works all round really doesn't it?

A train station will never provide nearly as many jobs to the area and certainyl no housing so it kinda wins unfortunately! Tesco are quite clever in thier plan of world domination are they not?

They are indeed...but so is Asda. I see the two are competing for the same site in Scotland...Where do they get the money from...?

From us haha! We spend in thier superstores all the time instead of all the smaller shops that our parents shopped in for thier goods! Plus thye buy in bulk and have thier own brands so Im sure they save heaps of money you know?

I wonder who will win the battle of the superstores in Scotland then? Where in scotland is this happening???

I would love to see the outcome, I believe the large business (tesco) would win!
