This is a new community site for Guildford and the surrounding area. You can comment on local news, see whats on, connect with friends, etc
I'm not sure it's considered polite to post a link to a similar sounding web site without first checking with the owner of this site.

I keep popping back to this site from time to time but every time am disappointed that hardly anything new is being posted on here. What is wrong with everyone? Here is a site dedicated to the people of Guildford and surrounding areas yet no-ones talking. This I find difficult to understand.
So what's the problem everyone?
How are folk going to find out about things, make friends etc if everyone is ignoring this forum? It must be upsetting for the admin folk having taken the time and trouble to set it up yet no-one can be bothered to use it.
It would be good to see the site used more, but it can take a while for the word to get around. We have undertaken various marketing activities, asked users to tell their friends and have also offered free advertising to small local businesses. Hopefully all that will result in more active users and continue to provide a useful free resource for local and "expat" people. The more the site is used the more useful it will be.We much appreciate your input and hope that the word will spread.
Hi peter has my ad for cleaner exteriors gone online? I was very pleased with what you emailed to me, and sent back an approval.
Many thanks

We are a new used car dealer in Guildford. Having difficulty trying to post a link of any kind, we are good guys from main dealers trying to offer a decent, honest service to the local community! You will find us on google when you type 'affordable used cars guildford'. K & K Automotive Ltd. We also have an article this week with the Surrey Advertiser under the Motoring section.
I have lived in Guildford for 8 years now and I have fell in love with the place.

I think appearence has alot to play with popularity and without sounding like im putting a downer on things its a bit plain, ive built many websites over the years and one thing ive learnt is attract all kinds of people by offering different things. on my recent site people can advertise local things put up links with permission from admins or mods rather than have to make 5 posts (thats where most cant be bothered) and to attract the younger community too is to have things like post reputation and badges, ranks etc, it attracts them to come back and socialise.
Also bright and colourfull too looks good. i have a post popularity table widget, recent post section, ranking, friends list so people can add to a friends list other members they know. ive also attached my forum to facebook with the facebook button to invite all their friends.
i would love to help this site become popular but i would start with looks and tools.

Good site although a bit too quiet which is a shame, hope it picks up a bit...
Welcome to WSF. We need more users for it to pick up, so please spread the word to friends and contacts. Look forward to your posts.
I think it could be something really good, like exchanging information and tips about good places in Surrey. :) its a shame it hasnt taken off but you cant rush these things. fingers crossed!
