Have anyone heard about this? I am not really clear on what is happening, so do correct me if I am wrong.

LCS have withdrawn there funding at Brooklands College (http://www.brooklands.ac.uk/). What will happen to all the A-level courses after year end?
The article on BCC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/surrey/8359639.stm), reports that, the college was left with £10m in debt. I'm just wondering, how will this effect future education for upcoming students? How will any of them find jobs in Surrey (http://www.careers-jobs.eu/surrey-jobs) if they do not have proper education.
Seriously, 1,000 courses are a hell of allot to loose. The council will be approaching businesses to see if they are able to help with on-the-job training, this could be great if all businesses comply to this?

Does anyone have more information about this?

OMG I had not heard anything about this! It is awful! Crazy as well! How can you just up and take away funding like that?

I wonder what will happen to all the students that are studying there or would have studied there in the future! When I went to college it was one of the three local choices for me!

I know, that's what I thought.

Sometimes I really think that some managers should go back for more education as some of them seriously don't know what they are doing... hehehe

These are not cars or houses that they are talking about, but people...actual people that needs to build a future for themselves.

Once again money is the root of all evil.....

Yep it would seem that way! What bad management! They do need to go back to be educated a bit more! Hmph!

I would be so stressed if I were those students, I would worry if maybe the college would close down because of the debt, not that I think it would.

Just imagine how stressed the ones are that were thinking of studying there or even have applied?

Its stupid! Poor people getting messed around like that is not nice!

I feel for the lecturers and such that will lose thier jobs as a result of thid too! It has to be worse for them as what will they do now? Its not like there is a sudden boom of jobs you know?

Thinking about it know, I really do feel for the lecturers. Most students can still apply at a different college, if it results to this, but ending up with out a job, will leave you with no income, maybe unemployment, but that's it... what if they have family's support?? That's so harsh.

Well hopefully now that the recession is over, jobs will start picking up again, but I don't really think that jobs were necessarily lost in the education sector? I mean, by law everyone has a right to an education, so this could be that there will be some jobs available at some higher education facilities, but not at all, so depending on the job losses at Brooklands, they all might or might not find a job easily, don't you think?

Well we would all like to think so but who really knows?

In any field I don't think jobs are that easy to come by these days! A friend of mine is a teacher and she was out of work for about 9 months so it can take some time to find another position! Although everyone has a right to an education and all that there are still cuts being made everywhere! As for the recession being over - I am still not keen on going with that right now as there are little signs of things improving anywhere amongst the people that I know and companies? What about you?
