Hi,

I came and visited Guildford last week and loved it! I really want to move here but I am wondering if it is a bit on the expensive side for my income? I am only planning to get a basic hands on job, full time but will probably be mimimum wage or just a tad more.

Do people with that sort of income actually live in Guildford? anyone know if it is more expensive than cambridge in East Anglia?

Can anyone tell me what the entry level rent prices for a decent sized double room in a house share are? obviously will depend how close to the town centre I presume.

Many thanks

Feed back much Appreciated

Matt

Come on, can't somebody be kind enough to give me some info on my question?

Thanks

Matt

The short answer to your question, Matt, is that it is in an expensive area - a nice town that is very much within the commuting area for London, so generally prices for buying or renting are going to be high for a relatively rural location. Having said that there is a lot of student accomodation for the university and law school, so you couuld get somewhere more reasonably priced, if you were prepared to share with students! Best thing is to get the local papers if you visit or check it out online. There are lots of rental organisations. All of the nesagents shops in the town have ots of cards in the window offering shared accomodation.

Thanks Peter, I will have a look in the newsagents next time I visit.

If you find a way I highly recommend. Guildford is a beautiful town that I fell in love with 8 years ago. Well worth the effort!
