I read in the Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/7347379/School-admissions-half-lose-out-in-some-areas.html) that we don’t have enough schools in the country and there is particularly a problem in Surrey.
Apparently thousands of 10 and 11-year old children will have to consider going to schools that are way down their top 10 list. It probably doesn’t sound so bad, at least they are getting a space somewhere right? But can you imagine not getting to send your kids to the same grammar school as their best friends or most of their other friends?:(
I don’t have any children but most of my nieces will have to go to school within the next two to three years and I know this is something that is a cause for real concern with my siblings. Having to send your children away because there isn’t space for them in the county is horrible!!! And in the meanwhile the government is planning to cut 900million GBP off the education budget. WE need more great schools in the country to educate the adults of the future and we need to create more
Surrey jobs (http://www.careersandjobsuk.com/surrey-jobs) for teachers to stay here and not move away somewhere else.
Don’t you agree?
