The Government has awarded £1.5 mil and SCC will contribute £500K to rectify the situation of Surrey’s roads. Apparently the funding is part of £100mil from the Gov to invest in roads across England. I tend to agree with Dr Povey (http://www.redhillandreigatelife.co.uk/news/8091157.Government_cash_boost_for_Surrey_s_pot_hol ed_roads/) from SCC that the funding is welcomed but that we as a county needs continued investment from the government on our roads.
The roads in Surrey are extremely busy and we experience extreme wet and cold weather more than half of the year. Getting once-off cash is great for the problem at hand but as I see it, our roads need permanent maintenance. When a pothole or any other form of problem rears its ugly head, a team should already be on it.
This way issues will be prevented from getting any bigger and residents of the area won’t be unnerved when huge roadwork developments delay their travel time for weeks on end. As a result I feel it necessary that the Gov invests in our roads and the council employs a team of road repair workers in permanent Surrey jobs (http://www.careersandjobsuk.com/surrey-jobs) to stay on top of road problems.
