Annual General Meeting
The 22nd MVS AGM is scheduled for Friday 9th March 2012 at 8pm at the Mayford Village Hall and your committee welcomes existing and prospective members.
Woking Local Development Framework
The revised Core Stragegy Framework is ready for submission to the Secretary of State. The Society provided input to this and has reviewed the revisions to be submitted to the Secretary of State. The Society is extremely concerned that Woking Football Club has filed a request for change of use of land at Egley Road, Mayford from Green Belt to Recreational Use. The club has aspirations to use the land to re-locate its stadium and associated facilities from Kingfield to the Egley road site. The Society is strongly opposed to this. A Planning Inspector will be hearing arguments at meetings to be held at Woking Civic Offices on the 9th February and 20th March 2012. Members will be advised of developments in due course.
New Village Entry Signs
All are now installed at the Village boundaries. Thanks to Will Forster for arranging funding.
Traffic Lights on Hook Hill Lane Railway Bridge
Phasing of these lights now corrected.
Neighbourly Help around Mayford
This organisation provides elderly Mayford residents with help getting to hospital or doctor's appointments, shopping and DIY. The organiser is Sarah Lovegrove. Members who would like to help should call Co-ordinator Angela Horstman on 0778-897-2761. Hours are flexible and can be arranged to suit all. You can help as little or as often as you wish. Sarah and her team have sourced the initial funding they need including a grant from Surrey CC. Thanks to County Councillor Will Forster who arranged for the grant to be available.
Planning Matters
The Society has objected to the large advertising sign on the front apron of the Mayford Arms PH. Planning decision pending.
Sutton Green Garden Nursery
The planning application for a car wash has been refused
General Matters
Overspill parking outside Worplesdon railway station has been dealt with by Woking BC. Much improved now. Thanks to Neighbourhood Officer Tony Tweedie for his action on this.
Dialogue is ongoing with Woking BC Officers, Surrey CC and Councillors regarding serious flooding under Worplesdon Railway bridge when it rains. A permanent solution is urgently needed. Help from residents living nearby and regular commuters using the station is being sought to alert Authorities when flooding occurs.
Call Network Rail on 08457-114141 and Surrey Highways on 0300-200-1003 to organise pumping away of flood water.
Litter Pick

As usual hi-viz jackets, long handled tools and bags will be supplied. To volunteer to help please telephone 01483 766688. Thank you.
