With the recent bad results and a Simply Food branch now at the station, it looks like the Peacocks store will close. It is a pity but probably inevitable in the current economic climate.

the climate is causing so many shops to go at the moment. i've heard that primark are taking over m&s and woolworths so they can have 2 floors? not sure if its just a rumour? haven't been there a while becuase the parking is a nightmare and expensive .. i'm being credit crunched at the moment becuase my other half is on reduced hours so have no money to spend anyway! LOL!

the big bike shop in the middle of Woking has also closed now, but it's interesting what you say about Primark expanding. Just goes to show that if you give a good deal you can still be successful. Retailers have had it very easy over the last few years with people buying just about everything, so the whole situation does need to get back to reality. Do we really need to own all this stuff?

completely agree. we don't need everything and anything the marketeers throw at us - no wonder land fill is such a problem when you think of all thefad things we've bought over the years that we could have lived without .. i have to admit i bought that chameleon phone from the budweiser advert lol. its securely stored in my loft somewhere inthe hope it will become an antique! hahahaha :)

You have the chameleon phone?! if you don't want it - i'll buy it off you!!
Haha! Where did you find that? Ebay?

*cough* anyway..
Apparently M&S looked at every possible option but in the end it wasn't 'economically viable'. Do you know if she one in Brooklands is still open? Though that is quite far to travel - my loyalties would go elsewhere ;)

Hi Emily

M&S in byfleet/brooklands will be open - its a massive one like the meadows in camberley. the one in woking was much smaller hence the reason its been closed down. I'm sure its also becuase people who want to pop in stop at the garages that have sprung up all over the place! its alot easier if you want some food to stop there! ive seen one at a garage on the way to chessington and in bagshot :)

I have to say though - I won't miss M&S food... Well, maybe I will miss their freshly squeezed orange juice :p I never thought the price really symbolized the quality. You would pay an extra 70p for mint to be added to your new potatoes. Do you think it was really expensive?
Secondly do you think the food looked as good as it does in the adverts?

Did anyone have their £2 meal deal? Sandwiches were pretty poor in that I thought?
