great local pubs?

Hi everyone

can you guys let me know about great pubs in and around surrey? places that do nice food and not too overpriced? i like embersinn (http://www.emberinns.co.uk/thecrabanddragoncamberley/) infrimley because its cheap :) and comfortable and not full of locals that stare at you (heee hee)
i'd like to go out and about and find some new places but am a bit hesitant as sometimes you never know whats behind the door.....

any ideas guys?

that's a big question. you could write a book on it and some people have. a couple of recommendations from me would be the White Hart in Pirbright and the Plough in Effingham.
Also you can visit the nice village of Ripley where there are several good pubs down the high street, so you can check out a few in one evening. have a look at www.pubutopia.com.

Thanks Alfie :) I like Ripley but haven't stopped for a beverage apart from the big pub half way up the hill towards send! :)
My colleagues have said about the Plough and the food is good ... so thank you - that will be my next trip sorted!
