Reading getsurrey (http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2051008_mp_michael_gove_faces_expenses_anger) and getting more and more frustrated with this country. How can MPs have got away with their fraudulent behaviour for so long. no wonder we owe billions as a nation. its ridiculous.
I hope Michael Gove gets tomato-ed!

millions of uk residents pay exorbitant taxes to help fund money grabbing mps who want to line their own pockets. its a joke to see how much tax is wasted especially on these people who aren't doing a good job either! Think about how much money is generated from surrey residents and surrey jobs (http://www.careers-jobs.eu/surrey-jobs) as most of the county is pretty afluent and how much the mps have in effect stolen! all taxes are going up to cover the millions they have wasted. ARGH!!!!!

lots of people are possibly going to be sacked I heard on the news (chayter for his claiming mortgage that had finished - £14000. its fraud. he should have to pay everythign back and the inland revenue should do an investigation and put him in jail. the guy who paid for his moat to be cleaned shoudl be forced to get in there with a scrubbing brush and do it himself LOL!!!! or they should all do community projects and do something awful like cleaning public toilets, bin collecting or something smelly and dirty that will actually help the community.

Politics have been finally shamed for being corrupt and now lets hope they will try to start and do the best for the country rather than themselves.

Don't get me started on the MPs!

MPs should have the same right as contractors to expenses. They should just be mitigated against their taxes - not taken from OUR tax money. They should be able to claim items that directly relate to the work - evidence must be supplied otherwise it cannot be put through. Standard claims for:
Subsistance, Mileage and Accommodation. Everything else must be related to their job and justified through receipts and post codes. This means no furniture, no second home, no personal slaves!!!

The MPs put up our tax time and time again, they increase new initiatives and charges - more fuel duty, more alcohol tax etc. If MPs used the same system that contractors had they would not be using thousands of OUR pounds and perhaps all these taxes would not have to increase like they so oftenly do. It disgusts me!

And I think some of them should be sacked! If we were found to be playing the system at work or not paying our taxes we would be put in jail. So I think even being sacked is rather lenient for the cheek they have. These apologies mean nothing to them, they will just reoffend and claim back again and again.

We should go back to olden day punishments - stocks! Every MP who abuses their expenses should be locked in the stocks for 5 hours on their hands and knees. Everyone should be able to throw their rotten fruit and veg at them. Humiliation can be seen as cruel however it will teach them quickly and they will learn from their greed.

If you work for a large company or organisation any form of expenses fiddling is considered gross misconduct and you can be dismissed immediately without any compensation. THat's what should happen to these MPs who have made inappropriate claims. Saying that they made a mistake and will pay it back is not good enough. Some of these people have committed criminal offences and should be fired and potentially prosecuted the same as anybody else would

I couldn't agree more - they should be put in prison. its fraud. they have just wanted to increase their personal wealth instead of working for us the little people. and they dont hesitate in putting up our taxes to cover it. ARGH!!!!!

mm totally agree! They seem to get away with putting their tails between their legs and apologising. They all promise change however I am sure it will take months to reach an agreement...

What is the most outrageous claim you have seen so far?

Have you been onto the BBC website to check the individual MPs expense forms?
Go to any "expenses" story on their website and they then provide a search option, where you put in your postcode and then see your local mps expense forms. Very easy to do and some interesting info, including one local mp claiming £1600 per month for a mortgage

How about the Daily telegraph management expenses? Now that the BBC has published details of the expenses of their top execs, we should all campaign for the Daily Telegraph to do the same about their top managers. They started this whole expenses thing, good for them and the circulation of their paper, but it would be very interesting to see what their people have been spending and claiming for. Pot, kettle, black?
