£1 evening park fees - not fair!

I read a story in the Advertiser that almost none of the neighbouring towns to Dorking have the �£1 evening parking fees. It's crazy as it also covers Saturday night up until midnight. I know �£1 isn't much to pay, but that's almost the point - it's so small its petty and therefore they should make it free. Anyone else agree?

Its happening everywhere. Probably due tothe council's ability to tie their money up in icelandic banks so they won't have interest to pay their fat bonuses. call me a cynic but it isn't going back into the community is it? PAH!!!!

i hate being charged to park in the evening especially as places that aren't being charged become less and less. Around my waythere are lots of restrictions being imposed and street machines pop up everywhere. count up the �£1's .. they mount to al ot over time!

What annoys me is that I feel like I have to drive when I go out. The only bus route that vaguely goes near my house seems to dissapear after 6pm - not giving me enough time to watch a movie, eat a meal or have a drink after work! Not that I can drink because I am drinking *haha*
I am lucky and find that my high street is free after 6pm without time constrictions either! However any car parks nearby all have parking charges. Don't tell anyone though otherwise pay and display will be introduced!! ;)

I am sure that residents are not pleased when people park around their houses because there are no free alternatives (take Frimley park hospital as a perfect example). Though these days many people are willing to pay to park in a pricey car park just for the convenience - no one wants to park aand walk anymore!

For such a small parking fee do you think they will really make a profit out of it?

yes - they are getting money for doing nothing...! lol :)

Consider this lucky, I was in oxford £2.50 to park over night and finished at 08:00 am so after a night out revelling, sore head and sleep in. Wake to a pleasant parking fine too.

So much for promoting don't drink and drive.
